We don’t believe Facebook needs any introduction, but just in case you have not been taking your homework seriously, Facebook is an online social media and social networking company which has its bases in the US.

Facebook is making headlines again, don’t worry your data is safe! This time, the social network giant has announced that it would be rebranding its logo on the services it owns- such as Instagram and WhatsApp- in a bid to provide more clarity on the ownership of its products. This will help users to identify and distinguish the products from the company, in other words, the company wants you to know who owns those products. Welcome to the era of FACEBOOK.

“We’re updating our company branding to be clearer about the products that come from Facebook,” the company’s post says. “We’re introducing a new company logo and further distinguishing the Facebook company from the Facebook app, which will keep its own branding.”

So what is this new logo going to look like? The new logo will include a ’rounded capital typeface’ whose colours will match the product it features on. For example, for Instagram, the new logo will replace the old grey text “from Facebook” it currently has and will match its purple, yellow and pink colours. And the FACEBOOK on WhatsApp will appear in green.

“Instead of the company owning a single colour, we designed the brand to be responsive to its context and environment,” Facebook said. “This system allows the wordmark to take on the colour of our individual brands.”

So what does this rebrand mean for us? As you might imagine, different people interpreted this news differently. While some people saw the rebranding as an attempt to deflect attention from its consumer privacy issues, other people saw in it an opportunity to make fun.
