Virtual Private Networks are secure links between an office and branch office (or between office and remote worker machine), using the Internet as the communications channel.
Before the mass availability of fast Internet access, an organisation's main options to communicate between offices were via expensive leased line connections or a slow and potentially unsecured connection over the Internet. Today, companies are able to massively reduce their technology investment in providing network access to branch offices using VPN. VPN appliances at either end of a VPN 'tunnel' encrypt network data, transmit the information securely over the Internet to the other office and decrypt the data at the other end.
The cost saving using VPNs is a major factor for the massive uptake of this technology, using the existing Internet infrastructure to remove the ownership requirement and related costs for the entire link between office locations.

Xanda have implemented and actively support VPN solutions extending network availability for our clients to their branch offices and staff from America to Europe to Asia, and utilise VPN technology to help secure remote workers' access to their company servers outside of company premises.
If you're looking to open a new office which requires access to the company network, or even looking to reduce I.T. budget spending on intra-office communications, contact us to discuss the options available to you.
